Having a timetable for your home maintenance tasks is a good idea since you can be confident that everything that needs to be done will be done on time. It’s just a wonderful method to keep track of these duties in the same manner that you keep track of your daily tasks in a journal and your chores in a cleaning plan.
So, today we want to show you how quick and simple it is to create a schedule, in the hopes that you’ll spend a few hours over the next few days doing so – and making your life a bit easier!
Step 1: Write Down All Of The Jobs You Need To Complete.
As usual, the key to a solid schedule is planning, and the first step in any schedule is determining what you need to fit into it. Create three columns on the page using a sheet of paper and a pen. The columns should be labeled as follows: (from left to right)
- Task
- How frequently do you do it?
- Time of year
Then just go about your house, noting any jobs that you notice that will require care at some point (or points) during the year in the first column. Consider duties that directly maintain your house, rather than chores like cleaning, as the list can quickly grow too big.
Step 2: Decide How Often Each Task Should Be Completed.
Home maintenance duties aren’t often performed on a regular basis throughout the year. As a result, I like to do this step on a monthly or seasonal basis.
Simply go through each chore and determine how frequently you want to complete it, filling in the center column of your list as you go.
Step 3: Each Task Should Be Added To A Home Maintenance Calendar.
After you’ve made a list of all the chores that need to be done and how often they need to be done, you can start adding them to a calendar.
First, fill in the chores that must be completed during certain months, followed by anything that must be completed during particular seasons, and last, fill in the blanks. Instead of having a highly busy month one month and nothing the next, you should try to fill each month with the same amount of work.
Step 4: Add Reminders
It’s easy to make a home maintenance routine; sticking to it is far more difficult!
As a result, you should set reminders in your diary, chores calendar, or cleaning plan – whichever works best for you – at the beginning of each month to check that month’s assignments and complete them.
We hope this example shows how simple and quick it is to create a home maintenance schedule. Stick to your home maintenance schedule and be sure to do the tasks that is in your schedule.
